My name is Tammy. I am a Wildlife Biologist and Professional Licensed Snake Trapper located in Maryland.
I was just diagnosed with Cushings in the past week. I am so overwhelmed and confused and have been sick for quite awhile.
I do have to have a surgery as my right adrenal gland is dead. I have always been a very active and healthy person.
Right now I feel very alone and do not even know what to add to my bio.

Hi Tammy! Do not feel alone! I too felt alone earlier this year. I was diagnosed with Cushing’s after suffering a severe kidney stone back in January. I had a tumor on my left adrenal gland and had surgery in March to remove both my left adrenal gland and the tumor that was on it. The hope was that my right adrenal gland would start working soon . It has not yet, but my doctor said the average was up to two years depending on how long I had had the tumor . I am currently feeling much better, have lost nearly 70 pounds, but I am still dependent on prednisone . Wow I feel like things could be better, things could also be worse. I was able to get off of my heart medication as a result of losing all the weight . I too have always been a healthy, active mother of two with a job in recreational therapy. We do not have a specialist here in the western slope, but I do see a good endocrinologist who is helping me to guide me through this difficult process. I currently have the diagnosis of Addison’s disease rather than Cushing’s as my current problem is no longer overproduction of cortisol , but underproduction as my left adrenal gland had been producing three times the normal amount therefore shutting down my right adrenal gland. My right adrenal gland is slowly getting better , but it’s clearly going to take some time for it to heal. Have faith, you can get through this. 🙂 – Lisa

I had right adrenal surgery in 2011. I had a horrible case of Cushings. I was so incredibly sick. It took me 6 months after surgery to get off hydrocortisone. It took over a year to lose all the weight. I know the overwhelming feeling you have. I was there. I live a completely normal life now 5 years later. I will pray for you!
